Brand History:

Founded by James Buckley-Thorp in 2011 whilst at university. Buckley-Thorp set out to create sporting socks for his rowing team, combining his teams colours. After purchasing a sewing machine and creating his first batch, other sports teams and societies wanted their team colours turned into varsity socks.

Within 6 months Buckley-Thorp had created over 1000 pairs and start selling them on campus and online. With the help of his friends Buckley-Thorp took team colours and created other garments for sports players to wear.

By the end of 2011 Buckley-Thorp had formed Rupert and Buckley, which is a combination of his mothers surname and his fathers middle name, and this unique style was quickly featured in Vogue, Marie Claire and In Style magazine.

Buckley-Thorp finished reading Law at university and subsequently declined his acceptance into Bar School and took to expanding the Rupert and Buckley range and creating more products that people can be truly proud to own and be excited to wear.

Buckley-Thorp has long believed that Rupert and Buckley should be a brand that should be lived. In mid-2014 plans on opening the company’s first store went into action. Based in Buckley-Thorp’s hometown of Bath, Somerset the quirky high street store lives and breathes the essence of an old university college. The store also has a in house tailoring service, a ‘Create Your Own’ service where customers can design their own rugby shirts as well as a personal shopping service in a private suite. Buckley-Thorp is keen to bring excellent customer service to the high street.
