Rupert and Buckley secures £2.5million funding on way to £1million turnover

Rupert and Buckley secures £2.5million funding on way to £1million turnover

A Bath clothing franchise has just secured £2.5 million funding as it aims to reach a turnover of £1 million in the next 18 months.

Rupert and Buckley has been approved the funding purchase level from an unnamed trade finance group.

The upmarket student clothes retailer recently opened a new warehouse in Oldfield Park, though its store in Burton Street in the centre of Bath closed last month.

Bath-born founder James Buckley-Thorpe cited high business rates and rent for the decision to close – all while the franchise is expanding into 11 new cities this year, including Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter.

Jersey, Canterbury, Glasgow, York, Oxford, Leicester and Sidmouth have recently been added to that list for 2017. The company hope to open a replacement store in Bath once a suitable location can be found.

Speaking about the new cash injection, James said: "We've have been given £2.5 million to help us expand as much as we want to.

"We didn't expect to get that much money so it's exciting. We now operate from our warehouse in Oldfield Park and the growth is just insane."

With growth of 130 per cent, Rupert and Buckley was named in the top 50 of the 2016 Sunday Times SME Export Track 100, tracking the fastest-growing small and medium-sized businesses in the UK.

The retailers will also be featuring an unnamed Team GB Olympic diver in their autumn campaign, establishing a pop-up store in Bath and three other cities and in the next two months are set to launch a range of five new socks.

    Chloe-Jasmine Whichello - One By One - #Addicted

A surprisingly #addictive single by the One by One, sorry I mean the, one and only X-Factor superstar Chloe-Jasmine Whichello, which has made an appearance on SoundCloud only several months ago. It is truly taking her talent One by One, sorry, one step further!

The track which potentially could be part of a debut album by Chloe-Jasmine Whichello, was co-produced by Blake Eiseman who has worked with global artists such as Beyonce, Justin Bieber, Usher, Janet Jackson, Jay-Z. And mastered by Pete Maher who has worked with artists U2, Katy Perry, Noel Gallagher, Damien Rice.

This certainly is an impressive launch from Miss Whichello and we're very excited to hear what follows. If you wish to have a listen to the track either pop into the store and hear it on our store track list or press play on the SoundCloud player below.
