On the 5th of June, the curtains fell on the final day of the Jubilee celebrations. During the extended bank holiday period millions of people followed the parade and the concerts. Many of us indulged in street parties rubbing shoulders with neighbours that we had perhaps ignored for the past 20 years. Alcoholic jelly castles were moulded, patriotic cupcakes mounted carefully on displays, with colours of the Union Jack eagerly plastered all over gardens, in shops and on our finger nails. We had all come together in order to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. While many of us will be sad to retired to our mundane yet busy lives, we are truly grateful for the extended holiday - Long live the Queen!
